The Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care, Perioperative & pain medicine at B & C Medical College Teaching hospital includes an experienced team of anaesthesiologist working 24 hrs a day for providing Safe anaesthesia care to patients of all age groups.
Our department is well equipped with advanced anaesthesia workstations & patient monitors. The hospital has ten major modular Operation Theatres (OT), one minor OT and one separate septic OT for infected cases. The electronic medical record (EMR) is being used to keep patient details in perioperative period.
We are equipped with dedicated point of care GE Venue 40 Ultrasound machine, high performance flexible bronchoscopy Ambu aScope, Pajunk MultiStim sensor advanced nerve stimulator.

Every patient scheduled for surgery undergoes thorough pre-anaesthetic evaluation wherein a detailed history, physical examination focusing on the airway and spine and a battery of investigations, referrals to specialists based on the co-morbidity and counselling of patients is performed. A detailed pre-anaesthetic form is completed for record keeping. After pre-medication, on the day of surgery the patient is wheeled into an OT, equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, and expert anesthesia personnel who administer anaesthesia either general anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia or a combination of the two. In the post-operative period, the patient is shifted to the Postoperative ward or ICU for variable periods of time for monitoring of vitals, pain relief, and mechanical ventilatory support as and when required.
